On Thursday, November 3 we met at Cathy Hilton's to discuss Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne. Verne is known as the father of modern Science Fiction and we learned a lot about him and had an excellent discussion about the book.

One item that was very interesting was suggested by Jennifer Tyler, on the possible significance of the names of the main characters in the book: Fogg, Fix, and Passepartout.

Fogg moved through life without anything disturbing his routine, apparently indifferent to the rest of the world.  Fix was fixated on his duty to the exclusion of all else and in French the word Passepartout means go everywhere.

A good time was had by all.

December 3rd we will meet at Michele Hastings new home for brunch and planning - selecting the books for 2017.
